This past weekend we took a short trip up to Charlotte to see my side of the family. We divided the drive up into two parts...Thursday night we drove to Greenville and spent the night in a hotel to break up the drive... It would have been great had we not gotten there in the middle of a terrible storm which knocked the power out to the area and we had to try to go to sleep (all of us in the same room with a hyper child, no fan for noise, pitch black, etc.) during it... three hours later the electricity finally came back on. I digress...
Friday morning we drove on and stayed the day with Nana and Jim.
Blowing bubbles...
Playing with his new planes...
Blowing out candles on cake number two...
We went to this neat little climbing park - all of the slides are made into this big tree trunk. The kids enjoyed it. Jackson especially - he's much more the dare devil than Rachel is.
He climbed up to the top of this ledge and stood and then eventually jumped off to Michael from it - it's taller than Michael was!
The next day we went to Monkey Joe's with Grandpa and then to dinner with everyone.
The above picture is a far cry from five years ago when she Michael let her go down the big slide by herself... anyone remember this??
It reminded me a little of this one with Jackson - he would climb up the slide but
then didn't want to go down it...
Sitting with Great Grandma Davidson...
Jackson loves this big frog at Cheryl and Bruce's house - he loves so many of the animals they have there!
They loved playing with Tori...
And he loves his new LOL Elmo he got too!
Blowing out candles on cake number three! They were all good but I think we have had enough cake for a week!
We enjoyed our trip. Even the drives weren't that bad this time...
Here are a couple of pictures from Jackson's actual birthday last week...Michael, Rachel and Jackson came to have lunch with me that day and we got a few pictures during that time.
Also that week, Michael took the kids downtown Atlanta to ride the new ferris wheel we have. It just opened a couple of weeks ago. Rachel has never been able to ride a ferris wheel before because she's been too short - but this one has the cars that are fully enclosed - so they could all ride it. Jackson was a little nervous to begin with but he just held on the whole time and they both really loved it!
This is our last week of summer break. School starts back on Monday. Of course there will be more pictures then!
